Animals of the Rainforest
Get up close and personal with some animals from earth’s valuable but dwindling rainforests at the Earth Week Plus Expo on Saturday, April 12. This exotic presentation will focus on the importance of preserving the rainforest environment, including its diverse inhabitants.
Rainforests cover only about 6% of the Earth’s surface, but contain more than 1/2 of the world’s plant and animal species.  Many products that come from rainforests are used every day in homes including chocolate, sugar, rubber, and medicines.
The presentation by Dynamic West School Assemblies features live animals  throughout the show. Learn about various mammals, reptiles, and amphibians that inhabit this unique environment.
Discover where the rainforests are and why they are there. Learn about the “layers” of a rainforest, with the flora and fauna in each. See the negative impact that pollution and deforestation have on rainforests and on their animal inhabitants.
Learn how to best preserve the rainforest, which is necessary for a healthy atmosphere. Each live animal represents a certain area. Animals of the Rainforest is sponsored at the Expo by a generous grant from PIEG.
The Earth Week Plus Expo, Saturday, April 12, 12:00-5:00, is at Cheboygan High School. It is a family-friendly free event and is open to the public. There will be presentations and exhibits for all ages. Full schedule at: www.earthweekplus.org
