This fall, the Lake 15 loon in these photos got more than the meal he bargained for when this bit of tackle became lodged in his bill. The chick dragged this array around for several days while we prepared for a capture and disentanglement. Fortunately, the treble hook, along with the line and bobber, disappeared suddenly. This lucky loon chick escaped a rescue, or, had no one been around to witness his predicament, a dreadful death. We’ll never know just how many loons perish from incidents such as this. Anglers need to take caution when using what are very dangerous and deadly devices to enjoy their sport.
